Our School Library
January 2024
Exciting news - we have a brand-new library in the heart of the school.
The library has been fitted with bespoke furniture and organised with the help of the Norfolk Children’s Library Service.
We have cleared away lot’s of old books and purchased many new fiction, non-fiction, poetry and picture books for pupils to enjoy.
We are grateful to the library team for their services, Hunstanton Charity Shop who generously donated £2000, Hunstanton Ladies Circle donated £250 and we were awarded money from the blue tokens in Hunstanton Tesco’s as part of the community grant awards towards the cost of the new books.
We have appointed a staff Librarian, Mrs Hollin and have KS2 pupil librarians who will be in working with me to organise many reading displays and events across the school.
Please help us.
We need you to encourage your child to read at home, change their book regularly and to look after the books borrowed and ensure they are returned.
We have spent a lot of time and money on the library and we absolutely need your help to make sure that the reading books are used and looked after.
As part of our homework policy, we ask you to read with your child at home at least 5 times a week and please record this in the home-school reading journal, which your child should have in their book bag. If they have mislaid this, let the class teacher know and they will issue a new one. Check what your child is reading and ensure that they have set reading time at home (preferably with you) and that they return their book and change regularly.
I would also like to take this opportunity to let you know that in addition to class reading we are fortunate enough to be part of School Reading Volunteers and have several local people who came each week to hear children read in our new library.
Many thanks and keep reading

It should be offered as a gift”
