We know that parents who have children with SEND can often find it hard to get the information and support they need. That’s why, a new support line for parents and professionals has been launched.
Although there's lots of advice and information already on theLocal Offer, if parents can’t find what they need, they can call0333 313 7165and speak to a professional.
The new phone line is available on weekdays from 9am until 5pm and is for parents who have children with any kind of SEND need, as well as those whose children might be at risk of being excluded from school.
It can provide support on anything SEND related – from thinking a child might have a special educational need, to trying to understand the next steps after a diagnosis. If parents are thinking about applying for an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessment then we’d really encourage them to call this number first, so they can gain help with getting the right support in place. The launch of the line follows feedback from parents at the Family Voice Norfolk conference and in the SEND survey.
SENDIASS, which is an impartial service supporting families, will continue to offer support on its existing number. The EHCP line will also stay in use. This line is for people who have an open EHCP assessment or plan.
